03 — CFO Advisory Services

CFO-level thinking.
Without the salary.

Cash flow strategy, financial modeling, and the forward-looking analysis that helps you make confident decisions — priced based on the size of your business, not a one-size-fits-all rate.

Scope note: CFO advisory covers operational business finances — cash flow, forecasting, and strategic planning. It does not include tax preparation, audit services, IRS representation, or investment advice.

Who this is for

You might be a good fit if…

You're making decisions — hiring, expanding, taking on debt — without a clear financial picture

You have clean books but no one helping you interpret them or plan ahead

You've been turned down for a loan and need to understand why — and what to fix

You're preparing to raise outside capital or bring on an investor

You know roughly what's coming in and going out, but cash flow still feels unpredictable

You need someone in your corner when a major financial decision is on the table

How Pricing Works

Priced for your business size.

CFO Advisory pricing scales with your annual revenue. A two-person business and a $3M operation need different levels of engagement — so you pay for what your business actually requires, not a flat rate that over- or under-serves you.

Your band is based on your most recent 12-month gross revenue. Reviewed annually — if your business grows, your rate adjusts with 30 days notice. If it dips, same deal.

FAQ

Common questions.

How does the revenue-based pricing work?
Your monthly rate is determined by your business's annual gross revenue. We look at your most recent 12 months, place you in the appropriate band, and that's your rate. It's reviewed once per year — if your revenue grows into a higher band, we adjust with 30 days notice. If it dips, same deal in reverse. The goal is for you to always be paying a rate that reflects where your business actually is.
What's the difference between a bookkeeper and a fractional CFO?
A bookkeeper records what happened. A CFO helps you understand what it means and what to do next. Most small businesses need both — which is why our Clarity and Command bookkeeping plans include a layer of CFO-style analysis. The dedicated CFO Advisory service goes deeper: modeling, forecasting, scenario planning, and strategic involvement in major decisions.
Do I need to already have clean books?
Ideally, yes — CFO advisory is most effective when it's built on accurate financials. If your books need work first, we'll often recommend starting with a bookkeeping engagement and layering in CFO services once we have a clean foundation to work from.
What does a typical month look like?
After close, we review your actuals, update your cash flow forecast, flag anything that needs your attention, and prepare a written summary. Then we meet — usually 45 to 60 minutes — to talk through what's happening and what decisions are on the table. The rest of the month you have access to reach out with questions.
Can you help me prepare for a bank loan?
Yes. Lender preparation is one of the most common CFO engagements. We clean up your financials, prepare projections in the format lenders expect, and help you articulate the financial story behind your business. This is typically a one-time project priced separately.
Does this replace my CPA?
No — and we're upfront about that. We work alongside your CPA, not instead of them. CFO advisory does not include tax preparation, audit services, or IRS representation. We complement your tax and legal professionals with the operational financial layer they typically don't cover.
